Monument Avenue
Take a drive down Monument Avenue, the only street in the nation to receive the National Historic Landmark designation. It includes historic statues of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, J.E.B. Stuart, Robert E. Lee and Confederate President Jefferson Davis.
Hollywood Cemetery
In 1851, President James Monroe's remains were brought from New York and reinterred at Hollywood Cemetery. Monroe's burial began the cemetery's evolution into a southern shrine. Others buries here include President John Tyler and Confederate President Jefferson Davis. More than 18,000 Confederate soldiers and officers are buried here, along with writers Ellen Glasgow and Douglas Southall Freeman.
Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom

Canal Walk
Navigate your own 1.25-mile walking tour of history medallions and exhibits to learn about Richmond's river front history. The route follows the canal designed by George Washington and goes from Brown's Island near the National Park Service Civil War Visitor Center to just below the Turning Basin at Canal and Virginia Streets in Shockoe Slip.
